About

Meet Dr. Wilson

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University and completed my postdoctoral fellowship in LGBT Veteran Healthcare at the Milwaukee Veterans Affairs Medical Center. I currently work full-time as a staff psychologist at a local university. I specialize in treating anxiety and depression and also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals.

I primarily use cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies in my practice. My office is in downtown Richmond. When I’m not working I love spending time with my family, including our large chocolate lab, greater swiss mountain dog, and loud, senior kitty. I’m an NPR nerd and love listing to a wide range of podcasts and audio books while going for walks with my dogs, Henry and Betty. I can also be found around town going for hikes, playing a variety of different sports with Stonewall Sports RVA, or enjoying the RVA craft beer scene.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapy practice is centered around using evidence-based treatments. These are the therapies that we know to be the most effective from our best scientific research. For anxiety and depression, I primarily draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I understand that there is no one size fits all approach to therapy. We will work together to identify the best approach for helping you make changes that will let you live your best life.
