They/them/theirs
Dr. Jessie is a licensed clinical psychologist. They received their MA in Community Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2020 and received their PhD in Counseling Psychology from New Mexico State University in 2025. Jessie has worked in a number of settings, such as the El Paso Veteran’s Affairs Home-Based Primary Care, a number of college counseling centers including Virginia Commonwealth University, and community mental health clinics for survivors of sexual violence. They have experience working with health professionals, couples/relationship counseling, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, religion/spirituality, gender dysphoria, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism.
Outside of therapy, Dr. Jessie is a huge nerd and loves a variety of video games from cozy genres like Animal Crossing or Sims 4 to story-driven fantasy games like Baldur’s Gate or Legend of Zelda. They are also a self-identified introvert and loves spending time with their partner and 3 cats while doing crochet, reading, or watching anime.
Dr. Jessie’s Approach to Therapy
Dr. Jessie takes a very individualized approach to therapy as they believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach as clients have their own unique needs and ways of being that are important to accommodate for. Some of the common therapies they draw from include Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Gestalt, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). At the core of their approach to therapy is a focus on the relationship and using the therapeutic relationship to create a space to engage in curiosity and self-reflection, support clients in affirming and empowering authenticity, and foster change that feels transformative and liberating. They also welcome and encourage feedback and voicing what is helpful or what doesn’t work in therapy or how we can improve the work we do.
