They/Them

Jess is a Supervisee is Social Work working toward licensure in Virginia, specializing in LGBTQIA+ affirming care for teens and adults. They earned their Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland and are passionate about creating a supportive and empowering space for LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating identity exploration, anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery.

Before joining Transformations, Jess led trauma-informed arts programs and developed LGBTQIA+ inclusive initiatives at Path with Art, a nonprofit serving veterans and individuals experiencing houselessness. Their background also includes intensive in-home counseling for adolescents and therapeutic work with preschool-aged children impacted by trauma. These experiences inform their relational, strengths-based approach to therapy, emphasizing self-awareness, resilience, and authentic connection.

Outside of clinical practice, Jess enjoys making art, cooking, baking, and spending time with their partner and two cats. They are always eager to learn new skills and explore new hobbies.

Jess’s Approach to Therapy

Jess recognizes that seeking therapy as an LGBTQIA+ person can be exhausting and even painful — not only because of what you’re carrying, but because you may have had to question whether the person across from you would truly understand, affirm, or accept you. Perhaps you’ve faced subtle erasure of your identity, felt the need to educate a provider, or experienced judgment when all you wanted was support for anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, stress, or relationships. Jess is committed to offering a different, validating experience rooted in lived respect, cultural humility, and compassion, so you can show up as your whole, authentic self.

They specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ teens and adults navigating identity exploration, anxiety, depression, trauma, family or relational stress, and life transitions. They offer a warm, grounded, trauma-informed space to process emotions, build coping strategies, deepen self-understanding, and strengthen resilience. They also support neurodivergent clients and those recovering from shame-based environments.

If you’re looking for a therapist who brings warmth, authenticity, and a deeply affirming presence, Jess would be honored to work with you. They will move at your pace, building trust, exploring your values, and supporting healing from internalized messages or past hurt. You’re invited to reach out through our contact from to learn more or begin care.
